Genre Research Mystery

A common camera angle used in mystery films is the dutch angle. I see this angle a lot paired with a zoom movement when the character is stunned after seeing something traumatizing. Used an awful lot in the mystery genre is the point of view shot. This is commonly used when something interesting is in front of a character, a monster, or a dead body.

The most commonly used sound in the mystery genre is diegetic sound. there is always a lot of talking, dramatic music, and sometimes action. in the movie get out for example the sound of running screaming saws and a lot more were included.

The actor's costumes normally are not anything crazy. Most mystery movies revolve around a normal event going wrong, where the people are dressed for a normal outing. The lighting in mystery movies is dark and gloomy to give off a creepy feeling. The actors are normal looking people, in street clothes, not too strong. The makeup in mystery movies makes people look as normal as possible there should be no blood or anything. Props mostly consist of weapons and strange not everyday weapons. The setting of a mystery movie is set in a large area with a select few people (those who are involved),

Frequent editing used in the mystery genre is split-screen. This is used when two events occur at the same time, for example: if one party found a dead body and the other found the killer covered in blood.

Examples of mystery movies are: Get Out and Inheritance. get out is a great example because it uses a lot of editing due to how much is going on at once.

I like the suspense element of or mystory movies it keeps me engaged and wanting more. I also really like the amount of dramatic irony in the films.

I dislike the volume in mystery movies, there is a lot of loud music that sometimes cover-ups the dialogue in the film.
